The first side dish of broccoli from my tiny backyard garden. Yum. Steamed with a little butter and salt. Ahhhhhhhhhhh. And to think i would never touch the vitamin powerhouse as a kid. The florets are small but tasty, i have been using more natural fertilizers. I would not say my garden is organic but its as close as you can get in suburbia.
So there I am, standing, looking at the possibilities. None of them are good. My mind is thinking of a moment past, fresh crunchy sharp. Yum.
I was standing in Publix, its February, and the fresh produce is anything but .......
fresh.
My focus is sharp, looking at the cucumbers. They look dehydrated, waxy. All I can think about was the cucumbers I harvested out of my garden just a few months ago. This winter has been hard, we in Florida usually can enjoy a nice victory garden all year. But this year my winter garden was almost completely destroyed, leaving me standing in Publix dreaming of gardens past.
Here is a video I made of the "Curves" created by my cucumber plants. The piano noodling was created by my dear friend Trevor Lithgow.
Here is a new video from our trip last summer. It should be called the "sounds" of Yellowstone Bison. Grunts and groans and so much more ..... ah nature. Three days into any Yellowstone trip and you will realize that everything runs on bison time. These enormous beasts just stand in the middle of the roads, walk across the roads, heck they do anything they want. What starts as fun sightseeing quickly becomes a game of trying to miss the latest buffalo traffic jam. Until that is, you get to the Lamar Valley. See there is a place where the buffalo roll, yes roll. The place is next to the road, you can't miss it. Every buffalo behavior you might want to see is happening here. The bison roll on their backs, scratching an itch i suppose. They court, fight, mate, nurse, you name it they are doing it.
This spot was a traffic jam but very different from all the rest. The drive out to the Lamar valley is wonderful. Don't miss it.
Many of my friends and family are hiding from the blizzard of '10. Waiting for 24 inches to arrive. Me? It was a rainy day here in Tampa, 75 degrees. What can i do to cheer up my snow bound relatives? Send them a video of one of my favorite beaches.
Every year as we plan for our vacations, i scour the Internet looking at video and pictures of possible destinations. Many times i am surprised how many places are not visually represented well on the Internet. One of my original plans for my youtube channel was to give people a chance to see my travels so they can plan their travels.
Case in point, Clearwater Beach Florida. Now this one is in my backyard, but well worth a visit.
Here is the video, shot on a canon 7d 1080p 30fps. enjoy.
